Project: the first month of books
Who asked: Jordan Chen, owner of Copper Finch Design.
Why: The owner needs the first month of books for a management review.
Data: The dated source events in the steps, two customers and two vendors in Desk Books.
Done: Every event is posted once and March accrual net income is checked.
You are opening Copper Finch Design's first month of records. Start with an empty company file and record each event in date order. Each completed step carries your books into the next task. Use the bank and customer forms where requested so the transactions remain useful beyond the general ledger.
The owner wants a supported first-month profit, not merely a bank total. Keep future insurance coverage in assets, put equipment on the balance sheet, and separate drawings from business costs. An unpaid bill creates a liability without moving cash. The final step asks you to read the resulting profit from the app. All dates, contacts and amounts belong to this fictional case.
Owner contribution changes cash and capital; it does not create first-month profit.
Build and report a complete first month in one company file.
