Staffing intake case
Request: The shift planner needs available roster hours by team.
Data: Original fictional HR records with padded IDs, duplicates and inactive workers.
Done: Trim IDs, retain active workers, keep one record per Worker, order the roster and produce team hours.
Marrowfield Logistics receives a small staffing extract from a regional coordinator. A worker can appear twice because the coordinator copied an amended row into the same file. Worker identifiers can also have spaces, and an inactive worker must not count toward today's availability. You need a team-level hours table that the shift planner can trace back to the cleaned roster.
Work through the same workflow across all five steps. Inspect each intermediate output before adding the next tool. An apparently reasonable total can still include an inactive person or a duplicated row, so the checks change both the records and their hours. The final table reports the available hours at the requested team grain, including a blank team as an exception group.

Worked example: Whitespace is part of a join key until you remove it. Keep the complete worker identifier.
