Abstract (or inductive) reasoning tests show a row of figures that change by a rule and ask which comes next. There are no words or numbers to lean on, only shapes, and you'll meet them often in graduate and technical hiring.
Check one feature at a time and say what changes. Count the shapes, sides, dots or lines. Follow anything that moves around the frame: which way, and how many places? Note any rotation, how many degrees and in which direction. Watch the shading, which may alternate or cycle, and the size or type of each shape.
Most items combine two rules. Find one, rule out every option that breaks it, then look for the second rule among what's left. Wrong options usually break exactly one rule, so check every rule before you answer.
