Cognitive aptitude tests mix verbal, math and logic questions in one fast test. Tests similar in format to the CCAT give 50 questions in 15 minutes; tests similar to the Wonderlic give 50 in 12. Few people finish, and you aren't expected to. Your score is how many you get right, so pace matters as much as accuracy.
Budget 15 to 20 seconds a question. If one will take a minute, pick your best guess and move on. Wrong answers usually cost nothing extra, so never leave one blank. There's no calculator, so the mental math shortcuts from the first unit pay off here.
Verbal items are analogies, opposites and odd word out: name the relationship in a few words before you look at the options. Logic items include orderings and "which must be true" questions, which get easier once you sketch them as a line or two circles. Some versions let you skip and come back; others lock each answer, so practice moving forward without looking back.
