In this format you see six figures in Set A and six in Set B. Every figure in a set follows one rule, and the two rules are related: one black shape against two, triangles against circles, more white than black against the reverse. Then you sort test figures into Set A, Set B or Neither.
Work it out in this order:
- Look for what every Set A figure has in common. Count first: shapes, black shapes, white shapes. Then kinds of shape.
- Check the same feature in Set B. A good rule explains both sets at once.
- Ignore features that vary inside a set, like position or size. They're there to distract you.
Neither is a real answer. A figure that breaks both rules, for example one with no black shapes when A has one and B has two, belongs to neither set.
