A 10-key test measures how fast and how accurately you type numbers on a number pad. Results are usually given in keystrokes per hour; this drill shows yours at the end of each round.
Set your hand the way touch typists do:
- Index finger on 4, middle finger on 5 (it has a bump), ring finger on 6.
- Reach up for 7, 8 and 9 and down for 1, 2 and 3 without moving your hand.
- Thumb on 0; ring finger on the decimal point.
Keep your eyes on the screen. Looking down at the keys costs more time than the occasional slip. Numbers with repeated digits and with zeros in the middle are where slips happen, so they appear often here. On a laptop without a number pad, use the number row; the method still builds speed and accuracy.
