Partners notice a box that’s a few pixels off before they read a word. Consultants line things up with commands, not by eye.
- Select several objects: click the first, then Shift+click (or Ctrl+click) the others. Or drag across empty space to lasso them.
- Home > Arrange > Align: Align Left, Center, Right, Top, Middle or Bottom. With two or more objects selected they line up with each other; with one, it lines up with the slide.
- Distribute Horizontally or Vertically keeps the two outer objects where they’re and makes the gaps equal. It needs three or more objects.
- Format Painter, or Ctrl+Shift+C then Ctrl+Shift+V, copies font and fill from one object to another.
- Ctrl+D duplicates, Ctrl+G groups, the arrow keys nudge, and Shift while dragging keeps a move straight.
On a Mac, use Cmd in place of Ctrl. Add-ins such as think-cell add more alignment tools, but tests expect the built-in ones.
