Format: a written case. Everything you need is in the case pack above each question: a CEO memo, a demand survey, a cost sheet and an operations note.
Question: should Corvane Rail launch a sleeper train, and at what fare?
Watch for: a capacity limit, and a memo that corrects one of the exhibits.
Done looks like: riders, the best fare, yearly profit, payback against the board's rule, a written recommendation and a slide title. All figures are fictional.
Some firms use written cases: you get a pack of documents and a fixed time to produce an answer, usually a few slides or a short memo, then present it. The skills are the same as a live case, with two differences.
- Triage the pack. Skim every document first and note what each one is for. Some are noise; one may correct another.
- Write the answer down. The recommendation has to stand on its own on paper: answer first, then the numbers.
In this case the pack is the tabs above each question. Click through all four before you start.
