A tag is a reference to an image. Creating another local tag doesn't upload bytes or make that reference available to another machine. Push publishes the selected reference to a registry, and pull retrieves a reference into a local image store. Use the exact repository and release tag requested by the team. A similarly named local image is easy to confuse with the published release during a handoff. Here the registry is a local simulation with no credentials or external traffic. Your tasks preserve the original image while preparing a release reference, then verify whether that reference is only local or also published.
