The failure stage tells you where to look. A missing ref or macro prevents compilation; a rendered trailing comma reaches the warehouse parser; a successful query can still violate the reporting grain. These tasks give you different failure stages and ask for the smallest change that repairs the stated behavior.
Later tasks refactor shared logic, select an operations branch, and evaluate a stored aggregate. Keep the business population intact when moving filters or joins.
Performance includes refresh frequency and build cost as well as query speed, so a table that returns quickly can still fail the report contract. Read the final workload before choosing a release action.
