Fictional assignment
Compare fictional training schedules for the Westhaven simulation ward.
Use the exercise policy of one staff member per four simulated patients, rounded up separately for each shift. The schedules have assigned headcount and illustrative overtime hours. Identify the first schedule that covers every shift and has the fewest overtime hours. This is a spreadsheet exercise, not a clinical staffing recommendation.
All records and amounts are fictional practice data. Deliver the completed workbook and a formula-based answer that updates when the inputs change.
A schedule can meet a daily headcount total and still leave one shift short. Check the constraint at the level where it applies before adding anything. In this exercise the ratio applies separately to each simulated shift, so a fractional requirement rounds up on every row.
The supplied policy is fictional. Calculate the required headcount, compare each option against it and count shortages. Only options with no shortages qualify for the final comparison. Then choose the qualifying option with the fewest overtime hours. Equal results use the first listed option, as specified in the assignment. Keeping the feasibility test separate from the ranking makes it easier to see why an apparently cheaper schedule fails.
