A column chart compares values across categories. Select the category labels, the values, and their headers before choosing Insert > Charts. Excel uses the first column for category labels and each later column as a series. The headers become the legend entries.
Clustered charts place series beside each other. Use one to compare a plan with actual work for each team. Stacked charts add the series into a single column or bar, so you can compare both the total and its components. A bar chart runs horizontally and gives long category names more room.
Keep summary totals out of the source.
Including a total alongside its own parts counts the same work twice in the picture. Blank cells leave gaps, while zero is a measured value. Select a chart to open Chart Design, then use Select Data if the labels or series point at the wrong cells.
