Data > Filter (Ctrl+Shift+L; Mac: Cmd+Shift+F) puts an arrow on each header of the table around the active cell. The arrow opens a list of the column's values: untick what you don't want to see, or untick (Select All) and tick only what you do. Rows that don't match are hidden, not deleted.
- Filters on several columns combine: Depot is South Yard and Status is Open.
- A filtered column's arrow changes to a funnel, and the row numbers of the remaining rows turn blue in Excel.
- Clear Filter From in a column's list shows its rows again; Ctrl+Shift+L turns the arrows off.
SUM adds hidden rows too. =SUBTOTAL(9, E2:E15) adds only the rows the filter shows, so a total under a filtered table follows the filter. (9 is SUM; 1 is AVERAGE, 2 is COUNT.)
