Merge, wrap text, row height and column widthLayout tools for the parts of a sheet people read first: Merge & Center (Alt, H, M, C) joins the selected cells into one and centers the text across them. It keeps only the upper-left value, and Excel warns before it throws the rest away. Use it for titles; in data tables it gets in the way of sorting and selecting. Wrap Text (Alt, H, W) breaks long text onto several lines inside the cell, and the row grows to fit. Home > Format > Row Height and Column Width set exact sizes. Row height is in points (the default is 15); column width is in characters of the default font (the default is 8.43). Ctrl+9 hides the selected rows and Ctrl+Shift+9 shows them again. Hidden rows still count in SUM; SUBTOTAL(109, ...) skips them. Alt, H, M, CMerge & Center the selected cells.
