Cherry-pick applies one commit's change to your current branch as a new commit. It does not switch to the source branch or merge all of its work. Inspect the source history so you choose the small fix rather than a later unrelated experiment. The resulting file and commit subject identify the transferred change. The source branch remains available for its own work, while your target branch receives only the requested patch. A source branch can contain a small fix followed by an unfinished experiment. Use a specific revision when the fix is not its tip. The target should gain only the selected change, with independent parentage.
