Following a log shows appended records as an incident evolves. tail -f is a viewing operation and shouldn't rewrite the evidence.
A historic error doesn't prove the system remains broken if a later recovery record is present. Inspect the last relevant line and retain the full input for the handoff. The simulator follows a local log without waiting on an external service.
Stop the follow view with Ctrl+C before requesting a fixed final window with tail -n 1. In this workspace, Append simulated record adds a local event so you can observe the follow behavior. Following keeps the source intact. When handing off an incident, distinguish the latest recorded condition from older errors still retained in the file.
