Harbor Bikes: data analyst take-home
Time limit: 90 minutes. Set a timer before you start; the page doesn't time you.
Harbor Bikes runs a bike-share scheme with eight stations. You have one month of rentals (rentals.csv: start time, duration in minutes, start and end station, bike type, rider type, price, and an optional 1 to 5 rating) and the station list (stations.csv: station, neighborhood, number of docks, year opened).
The operations director wants to know when the bikes are used, by whom, where the money comes from, and which stations are under the most pressure. Answer the questions in order; each step builds on your notebook so far. Hiring teams mark correctness first, then whether you handled the edge cases (missing ratings, very long rentals, round trips) and explained your choices.
Treat this as the real thing: read the brief once, plan, then work through the steps without looking at hints. Check yourself at the end of each step. If you finish early, use the time to write a short comment in a cell explaining your answer to the last question, the way you'd in a submission.
