Every Series and DataFrame has a .plot method that draws with matplotlib. In a notebook the chart appears under the cell:
monthly.plot() # a line chart
df.groupby("region")["revenue"].sum().plot.bar()
- A Series gives one line (or one bar per value); its index goes along the x axis.
- A DataFrame gives one line per column, with a legend.
kind="bar", kind="barh", kind="hist" and so on choose the chart type; .plot.bar() is the same as .plot(kind="bar").
Charts draw the data in the order it is in. Sort before plotting: dates in time order for a line, bars from largest to smallest for a ranking. The cell also shows <Axes: ...>, the plot object, just as Jupyter does; end the line with ; to hide it.
