Re: The monthly numbers, without the spreadsheet
Every month I rebuild the same table by hand. I'd like it built in code so we can run it again next month. One table, kpi, with one row per complete month and these columns, in this order:
revenue, orders (distinct orders) and customers (distinct customers who ordered)
margin: revenue minus units times the product's unit cost
aov: average order value; margin_pct: margin as a share of revenue
growth: revenue change on the previous month, as a share
target: the sum of the regional targets; vs_target: revenue over target, minus 1
And one chart for the deck: revenue and target by month. The files are sales.csv, products.csv (unit costs) and targets.csv (one target per region and month).
This project builds the kind of table finance teams ask for every month. You'll join costs without duplicating orders, aggregate with named columns, drop a partial month, compute ratios and growth, line targets up by their month labels, and finish with a chart.
