The Filters pane does what slicers do, out of the reader's way and with more options. It has three sections:
- Filters on this visual apply only to the selected visual. Every field already in the visual is listed there.
- Filters on this page apply to every visual on the page.
- Filters on all pages apply to the whole report.
Drag a field into a section, expand its card and choose what to keep. Basic filtering is a list of values with checkboxes. Top N keeps the top or bottom items ranked by a value, such as the five products with the most sales. Advanced filtering keeps items that meet a condition, such as a value greater than 50,000.
Use slicers for choices readers make. Use the Filters pane for rules the report should always follow.
