When readers need exact numbers, use a table or a matrix. A table lists fields as columns, one row for each combination of values, with a Total row at the bottom. Click a column header to sort by it; click again to reverse the order.
A matrix works like an Excel pivot table. Put a field in Rows, another in Columns and numbers in Values, and you get a grid with totals for every row and column. Put two fields in Rows to nest them, such as products inside their categories.
The totals aren't added up from the rows. Power BI calculates each total on its own, with the filters of that total. For sums the result is the same, but for averages and ratios it isn't, which you'll see in the DAX lessons.
