Power BI keeps your fields when you change the visual type, so trying another chart costs one click: select the visual, then pick a different icon in Visualizations. Choosing well matters more than decorating.
- Column and bar charts compare categories. Use bars when the labels are long, like product names.
- Line charts show change over time.
- Pie and donut charts show shares of a whole. Keep them to a handful of slices.
- Stacked charts show a total and its parts in one bar.
Formatting lives on the Format visual tab, the second icon at the top of Visualizations. Its settings are grouped into cards such as Data labels, Title and X-axis. Many cards have an On/Off switch in the header, and expanding a card shows its options, like the title text.
