Employee Central stores job information as effective-dated records. A transfer on October 1 should change the employee's department from that date forward while leaving the September record available. Reading only the newest row can give the wrong answer for an earlier workforce report. Use the person identifier and the reporting date together.
A person's status, department, position, manager and FTE describe different aspects of their assignment. A part-time employee still counts as one person, while their FTE can be less than one. These tasks let you inspect an employee file and save supported future job changes. The simulator preserves earlier effective rows so your change doesn't rewrite the history used by a prior report.
