GOOGLEFINANCE(ticker, attribute, start_date, end_date, interval) brings market data into a sheet. Write the ticker with its exchange, "NASDAQ:DSKD", so the right listing is used.
- With only a ticker, it returns the current price:
=GOOGLEFINANCE("NASDAQ:DSKD").
- An attribute picks something else:
"high52", "low52", "change", "name", "currency".
- With dates, it returns a history that spills: a header row (Date, Close) and one row per trading day at 4:00 PM. Weekends and market holidays have no row.
"WEEKLY" as the interval gives one row per week.
- To pull one number out of a history, use INDEX:
=INDEX(GOOGLEFINANCE(...), 2, 2) is the first close.
About this practice copy: it can't reach market data, so it uses three made-up tickers, NASDAQ:DSKD, NYSE:HRBR and LON:TEAL, with a fixed price history to October 30, 2026. Real prices also lag by up to 20 minutes, and the data isn't meant for trading.
=GOOGLEFINANCE("NASDAQ:DSKD")
=GOOGLEFINANCE("NYSE:HRBR", "price", DATE(2026,3,2), DATE(2026,3,13))
=B2*GOOGLEFINANCE(A2)
A current price; two weeks of closes; the value of a holding.
