A task stores SQL and a compute choice. A new task starts suspended. You resume it when its dependencies, permissions and output are ready. A schedule tells Snowflake when to run it; the warehouse supplies compute for a user-managed task. The task owner's role needs access to the source, target and warehouse.
This account stores task definitions and status, but time passing does not run them. Use EXECUTE TASK to request a local execution, then inspect the target and task history. An explicit execution request can run a suspended standalone task without changing its scheduled state. That distinction helps you test a definition before enabling its schedule. The exercise fixtures contain original retail orders. Keep filters in the stored task SQL, because a correct manual SELECT does not fix a task that would load the wrong rows.
