A senior design interview tests whether you can connect a component to the failure it prevents. These questions progress from a local transaction to a regional ownership decision. The interviewer gives a concrete invariant or service objective, and your selected reason must explain why the design preserves it. Naming a familiar technology isn't enough.
Keep your answer scoped. Per-account ordering doesn't require one global queue. A transactional outbox closes a local publication gap, but it doesn't make a remote payment call atomic. When a partition prevents a safe write, describe the pending or unavailable state the client sees. Each checked question has a defensible alternative under a different constraint; the supplied workload decides which trade-off fits this interview.
