Regional sales dashboard
From: Rosa Ortiz, Regional Sales Manager, Juniper Trail Outfitters
Every Monday I review sales with the five regional leads. I want one screen for that meeting:
- sales by region, with profit shown so we can see which regions earn their keep;
- the monthly sales trend;
- profit by sub-category, worst first, so we talk about the problems.
When I click a region, the trend and the sub-categories should show that region only. We present on the meeting room screen, which is 1366 x 768. Call it Regional Sales and show the title.
Deliverable: a dashboard named Regional Sales with the three sheets, a region filter and the title.
This is a project: one realistic build in several steps. Each step continues from your own work in the step before, so the workbook grows as you go, just as it would at work.
You'll build three sheets, name them, lay them out on a dashboard sized for the meeting room screen, connect them with a filter action and finish with a title. The last step uses the finished dashboard to answer a question Rosa is likely to ask.
Read the brief first. Names matter in this project: the dashboard shows sheet names as titles, and the checks look for the names the brief and the steps ask for. If a step fails, the message says what is missing; Show answer rebuilds that step if you get stuck.
