A data-quality flag should reveal its source rule. A missing-manager label can depend on a Boolean, and a span review can depend on a count of related workers. Reuse those calculations rather than typing a conclusion beside one visible record. The same logic should still work when worker pay, hire dates or organization membership changes.
Keep the dependency chain short enough to inspect. Verify the raw relationship, the intermediate value and the final label in that order. An empty lookup and a zero related count are different results. Don't create a circular reference by making a helper depend on the label that already uses it. A report can make an exception visible, but resolving that exception still requires the appropriate staffing process and approval.
